Greening Manchester!
We’ve been working really hard to help our Community & Friends in Manchester! Here’s a list of just some of the things we’ve been up to…
- We carried out treework for Debdale Park Greenfingers Allotment project for people with learning disabilities group finally enabled them to finally erect their polytunnel for gardening classes.
- We recently delivered 3 loads of woodchip to Remedi’s Gardening Project Group in Debdale Park. The group works with the The Friends of the Park to manage the formal gardens. Remedi provides restorative justice services and training across the youth and adult criminal justice system.
- Through Manchester Environmental Education Networks we have supplied schools with woodchip food growing projects and logs to encourage wildlife or to create seating areas.
- Friends of Mersey Vale Nature Park – improving access to site, selective thinning and lifting the crown of some trees let more light in and increase biodiversity of the wooded areas.
- Manchester Communications Academy in Harpurhey. Improvements to the forest school woodland area. We constructed the footing for a timber framed structure to sit on and milled some timber for the construction.
- Supplied timber for the construction of a building at Trafford Eco Park. Start in Salford, who use creativity to help vulnerable people from all walks of life improve their skills and gain in confidence, are building a meeting room on site for Groundwork and the process will create further learning opportunities.
