August News: We’ve got an Apprentice!

The TreeStation is a Social Enterprise working to make the very best use of timber produced as a by-product of woodland management and tree work – for fuel, timber and other uses. Make wood work!

(We know it’s not quite August any more, but it’s been a busy month – so, better late than never!)

You’re hired! – After holding a host of interviews with some lovely, enthusiastic applicants for our Business Admin Apprenticeship we finally decided on The One! A huge, friendly welcome to our new apprentice, Tom, who will be helping Phil, Hannah and Paul keep the office in check – and earning himself a Level 2 BA Apprenticeship at the same time. He’s a local lad, too (no excuse to be late, now, Tom!), who’s keen to spread the TreeStation word around Gorton. Big congratulations to him and we hope he has a great year learning with us!

Our Summer sale is over – Lots of you did manage to take advantage of either our firewood or timber sales this last month, which has been brilliant and kept us very busy! The time has come for the sales to end, so we’re back to our normal prices – firewood still comes with free delivery within the M60 Ring Road, though. If you still need to stock up before Winter hits, then please get in touch.

We’ve still got stock of our ‘Planed All Round’ timber – If you’ve got any DIY projects coming up this summer and you’re after some lovely, hardwood planks that are ready to use, then look no further! We’ve just launched a new section of our online shop for PAR timber – all made from wood we’ve brought back to the yard from our tree work operations in the Greater Manchester area. Now we’ve got our kiln installed, too, we’re going to be able to process, mill, dry, plane and finish all planks here at the yard, drastically reducing their embedded carbon content – meaning you can put that shelf up, safe in the knowledge that by choosing our timber you’re helping to combat global climate change.. What a good feeling! See our full ready-made range of PAR planks on our Online Shop.

If you can’t see any on our shop that quite fit your requirements, we can also plane planks to order with our bespoke service. All you need to do is pop your exact measurements into our calculator, find out how much it will cost, place your order and then we’ll get in touch to discuss your timescale and sort out the delivery options. Easy!

Tree work – Paul is getting pretty booked up with tree work quote visits at the moment, which is keeping him (and our tree work team) nice and busy. We can usually get him out to see you to quote for a tree work job within a couple of weeks (quicker, if it’s emergency work) and we get the quote to you as soon as we can after the visit. If you decide to go ahead, we can discuss when is best for you to get it all booked in. If you want to make an enquiry about booking Paul in to visit and talk about your tree work, please get in touch!
