Main characteristics
Our landscaping woodchip may contain some shredded leaf material as well as smaller/larger chips, making it inadequate for biomass boilers specifications, but perfectly appropriate for mulch and paths. Woodchip helps suppress weeds, stabilises soil temperature and retains water, whilst some leaf content improves soil fertility, as it re-balances the Carbon/Nitrogen ratio when it eventually breaks down. (We often have more woody chip available too, if you need it without leaf material – call us to discuss this option. This is better for play areas, but it is not accredited to any British Standards for play-grade chip, and should last a bit longer if used for pathways.)
We can accommodate tipped or bulk bag deliveries within Greater Manchester, and we can crane large quantities over walls to save you moving chip about. Just contact us to discuss your requirements.
We currently supply several local allotments and growing projects, including some delivering a social benefit, such as Emerge (food recycling and growing project) and the HEAP (Highfield Eco-Allotment Project working with asylum seekers and ex offenders).
